Discover the wonders of Mont Saint-Michel on a private shore excursion from Cherbourg. Visit the historic abbey with your guide, wander through charming narrow streets, and take in stunning views of the iconic bay.
The Mont Saint Michel is a rocky island off the coast of Normandy, on the English Channel, and is one of the best Normandy private tours you can choose. It is located about 1 kilometer from the shore and sits in a bay that sees some of the biggest tides in Europe. A few years ago, it got linked to the mainland by a bridge that gets flooded during high tides a few times a year only.
Pick up at your Cruise Ship in Cherbourg Today, we will come and pick you up at your Cruise ship located in Cherbourg Port of Call. Meet your English speaking driver/guide who will go over the itinerary and program of the day with you. Then, board your comfortable, air conditioned vehicle and begin your private full day tour to Mont Saint Michel, a Unesco World Heritage listed Site. Completion of the abbey took hundreds of years The first church was built on the mount in 709 at the request of Archangel Michael. A couple hundred years later, a small group of Benedictines settled there permanently and the church was enlarged. The first monastery was carved in the rock in the 11th century and gradually got bigger and bigger over the following centuries. In the medieval time, it quickly became an important destination for pilgrims, just like Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The construction of the abbey as we know it nowadays was finished in the 13th and 14th centuries, and the grand chancel was replaced in the 15th century. Those hundreds of years of architectural progress have left us with a magnificent monument, now referred as the “Wonder of the Western World”. Visit of Unesco World Heritage Site of Mont Saint Michel During your Mont St Michel day trip, you will start by traveling from Cherbourg to the Mont Saint Michel, which you will access via a shuttle and the bridge in accordance with local requirements. While on the road, make sure to take it all in and observe the beauty of the Normandy coastline. Locally, the Mount has always been in the middle of a feud between Normandy and Brittany as to in which region the site belongs to. Our Mont Saint Michel tour will then take you to the abbey itself, at the very top of the mount where the Benedictine Abbey is located. During this walking tour, the history of its construction will be explained in detail and while you are there, make sure to snap some pictures of the amazing views on the surrounding bay! Follow a guided tour of the abbey and then enjoy some free time for personal discovery and lunch. The Mont Saint Michel is also a lively small town, boasting dozens of shops, restaurants, and museums After the visit of the abbey, our guide will set you free to explore the town at your own pace and bring back some souvenirs for friends and family. Stroll through the small streets of this village that dates back to the middle ages. Your guide will also suggest some great restaurants for lunch. Of course, if you still have some questions about the history or the architecture of the Mont Saint Michel, your private guide will remain available for you. This Mont Saint Michel private shore excursion can take in small groups of 2 to 8 persons maximum. The tour takes place in a recent and fully equipped premium car or minivan. A certified, English-speaking guide will be with you all day and ready to answer any questions you may have. After the tour, it will be time to head back to your Cruise Ship.

Then upon our return we will stop in the picturesque small town of Honfleur for a short walking tour and time for personal discovery. Pick up at your Cruise ship in Honfleur At first we will come and pick you up at your Cruise Ship in Honfleur Port. Your driver will be waiting for you outside the terminal with a sign bearing the lead travelers name. You will then be taken to your premium A/C vehicle where it will be time for presentations and a recap of your shore excursion to Giverny. Please note that all our vehicles are equipped with an internal P/A system that allows the driver to make commentaries during driving time. All our vehicles are also equipped with wi-fi so that you will be able to catch up with family and friends during this time. Arrive in Giverny On this Honfleur shore excursion, reach Giverny village after your driving time. The village is one of the most famous in France as it features Monet's house, one of the most famous 19th century impressionist painters of France. Upon arrival you will be taken by your guide to the entrance where your visit of Gardens and House of Claude Monet will begin. During your visit you will certainly admire the gorgeous lily ponds - covered with water lily - or the unique Japanese bridge. Claude Monet's House The painter arrives in Giverny in 1883 aged 43 years old. Thanks to the selling of a number of paintings to art merchant Durand-Ruel, he is able to acquire this house where he believes he will be able to ameliorate his work on light and color. During more than 40 years, Monet will transform, develop and enlarge the house. As you enter, you will first discover the reading room or 'little blue sitting room' followed by the artist's first studio where he worked until 1899. You will then proceed to the first floor where the private apartments are located. These include Monet's bedroom where objects and artwork from Monet's time are exhibited. There are also reproductions of paintings made by his friends: Cézanne, Renoir, Signac or Caillebote. Then, move on to Alice's bedroom - Claude Monet's wife - and end the tour of the upper floor with the last room which was Blanche Monet's bedroom. You will then return to the ground floor to visit the dining room and kitchen. Here, you will admire Monet's famous collection of Japanese prints. The 'Clos Normand' Garden Monet's love for gardens came as he visited the gardens of friends as well as with the one he took care of in his previous house of Argenteuil. In Giverny, the artist will model his garden so as to better paint it. In front of the house, he creates the Clos Normand. He starts by removing a number of trees, to Alice's great despair, then reorganizes the flower beds playing with the colors for his paintings. The flower garden is composed of daffodils, tulips, narcissus, iris, oriental poppies, peonies while the central path is lined with nasturtiums, fragrant roses, cherry and Japanese apricot trees. The Water Garden By diverting a small river, the impressionist painter Claude Monet completely created this water garden. He will contemplate nature for hours especially fond of the reflections of the sky that occur on the water. Deeply inspired by 'Japonism' - influence of Japanese art on French Artists and writers - he creates a unique world. A Japanese bridge is built and oriental plants are introduced such as maple trees, Japanese peonies, white lilies, bamboos and Ginkgos Biloba. In 1897, Monet begins to paint the "Nymphéas" series inspired by the water lilies pond, achieving one of his most famous artwork reaching the limit of abstraction (Water Lily). Today, ten gardeners take care of Giverny gardens all year round. Please note that we do not include any tickets on the day of the tour. You must purchase your entrance tickets during the booking process as there are many different options of visit available. Depending on the tickets that you will have bought, your tour will cover different sites and entrances. Begin to make your way back, stop in Honfleur After the visit and some time for lunch, start your way back to Honfleur. On the way back, we will make a stop in colorful Honfleur, one of the prettiest small harbor towns of France. Follow a short walking tour in town to get your bearing and let yourself be transported by the beauty and simplicity of Honfleur as you stroll through its small cobbled stone streets dotted with Art & Artisans shops - a real treat! After the visit we will drop you off at your ship. This private tour can accommodate a maximum of 8 persons per minivan. The tour is fully customizable depending on your wishes. If you would like to add a visit that is missing from this description, do not hesitate to let us know! Embark on a vibrant small group private Shore Excursion from Honfleur Port of Call to the main Normandy beaches and D-Day sights. Pick up and drop off at Honfleur Cruise Port. Stop at Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc & American Cemetery.
Departing from Honfleur Cruise Port, this D-Day Normandy private tour will take you to the coastal battlefield grounds. On June 6, 1944, the allied troops landed on the Normandy beaches, marking the beginning of a fierce and deadly battle that would culminate in the liberation of France a few months later.
Pick up from your Cruise Ship in Honfleur First, we will come and pick you up at your Cruise Ship in Honfleur cruise ports. Meet your English speaking guide who will go over the itinerary and program of the day. Then, board your A/C vehicle and begin to make your way to the Normandy coastline where the D-DAY landings occurred. Visit Omaha Beach Among the allied troops, the Americans landed on two different beaches, later named Omaha and Utah. Today, our day tour is taking you to Omaha beach, where the deadliest of the landings took place. Even though bombings occurred before the landing itself, they failed to neutralize the German positions in that sector. In addition, troops and amphibian vehicles were disembarked too far from the shore, leading to an absolute failure and thousands of men being killed under German fire. Now off to the cliffs A little bit to the West, your private guided tour of Normandy will head to the Pointe du Hoc, a breathtaking cliff offering lunar landscapes and a magnificent viewpoint over the English Channel. Given the toughness of the operation, the Pointe du Hoc was given to Rangers to land upon. The battle was rough, as the Pointe du Hoc had been built as a key point of the Atlantic Wall by the Germans – it was the highest point between Utah beach and Omaha beach and provided a great observation spot to notice any unfriendly arrivals from the sea. You can still see an artillery battery there and feel as if it was still this faithful June morning… Normandy American Cemetery End this private tour from Honfleur with a stop at the Normandy American Cemetery. Located in Colleville-sur-Mer, on the site of the temporary American St. Laurent Cemetery, established by the U.S. First Army on June 8, 1944 as the first American cemetery on European soil in World War II. Here you will have some time to walk around and pay homage but also visit the Visitor Center that provides a fuller array of visitor services to put the D-Day landings in perspective as one of the greatest military achievements in history. After the visit, return to Honfleur and drop off at your ship. This private tour can accommodate a maximum of 8 persons per minivan. During the whole day, one of our certified English-speaking driver guides will be by your side. He will explain the history behind each Normandy tourist site you will visit. The tour can be customized depending on your wishes. If you would like to add a visit that is missing from this description, do not hesitate to let us know! Our other Shore Excursions from Honfleur We organise a large number of private full day shore excursions that include private transportation to the major sites of the region such as Mont Saint Michel, Longues sur Mer, Bayeux, Caen. We also organise walking tours and winery tours for those who would like to taste the local apple brandy called Calvados. We also specialize in Group Tours to Mont St Michel.

Embark on a vibrant Private Shore Excursion from Rouen Port of Call to the famous Gardens of Giverny!
Departing from Rouen Cruise Port, this Normandy shore excursion will take you to the breathtaking village of Giverny where the house and Gardens of famous painter Claude Monet are located. Pick up at your ship in Rouen Cruise Terminal First we will come and pick you up at your Cruise Ship in Rouen Port. Meet your guide who will be waiting for you outside the terminal with a sign bearing lead passenger name. Your driver guide will also go over the itinerary and program of this half day trip with you. Then, you will be taken to your A/C minivan and it will be time to begin your drive to Monet House and Gardens. Reach the village of Giverny Your drive to the village of Giverny from Rouen port of call is about 1.5 hours. The village is one of the most famous in France as it features Monet’s house, one of the most famous 19th century impressionist painters of France. Upon arrival you will be taken by your tour guide to the entrance where your visit to the beautiful Gardens and House of Claude Monet will begin. Tickets are available for purchase during the booking process which will enable you to skip the line. Visit Monet’s House & Gardens Even though the term ‘impressionism’ already existed, one of Monet’s paintings – impression, sunrise – perfectly summarized the style and start of impressionist art and this painting movement. Upon arrival you will be taken by your guide to the entrance where your visit to the Gardens and House of Claude Monet will begin. There are several things to see on site: Claude Monet’s House: The painter arrived in Giverny in 1883 aged 43 years old. Thanks to the selling of a number of paintings to art merchant Durand-Ruel, he is able to acquire this house where he believes he will be able to ameliorate his work on light and color. During more than 40 years, Monet will transform, develop and enlarge the house. As you enter, you will first discover the reading room or ‘little blue sitting room’ followed by the artist’s first studio where he worked until 1899. You will then proceed to the first floor where the private apartments are located. These include Monet’s bedroom where objects and artwork from Monet’s time are exhibited. There are also reproductions of paintings made by his friends: Cézanne, Renoir, Signac or Caillebotte. Then, move on to Alice’s bedroom – Claude Monet’s wife – and end the tour of the upper floor with the last room which was Blanche Monet’s bedroom. You will then return to the ground floor to visit the dining room and kitchen. Here, you will admire Monet’s famous collection of Japanese prints. The ‘Clos Normand’ Garden: Monet’s love for gardens came as he visited the gardens of friends as well as with the one he took care of in his previous house of Argenteuil. In Giverny, the artist will model his garden so as to better paint it. In front of the house, he creates the Clos Normand. He starts by removing a number of trees, to Alice’s great despair, then reorganizes the flower beds playing with the colors for his paintings. The flower garden is composed of daffodils, tulips, narcissus, iris, oriental poppies, peonies while the central path is lined with nasturtiums, fragrant roses, cherry and Japanese apricot trees. The water garden: By diverting a small river, Monet completely created this water garden. He will contemplate nature for hours especially fond of the reflections of the sky that occur on the water. Deeply inspired by ‘Japonism’ – influence of Japanese art on French Artists and writers – he creates a unique world. A Japanese bridge is built and oriental plants are introduced such as maple trees, Japanese peonies, white lilies, bamboo and Ginkgos Biloba. In 1897, Monet began to paint the “Nymphéas” series inspired by the water lilies pond, achieving one of his most famous artwork reaching the limit of abstraction. Today, ten gardeners take care of Giverny gardens all year round. After the visit your full day tour will head back to Rouen Cruise Port and we will drop you off at your ship. This private tour can accommodate a maximum of 8 persons per minivan.

Discover an impressive architectural ensemble that includes the neoclassical Grand Theater, the Golden Triangle district and the Rohan Palace that is today's Bordeaux Town Hall. On this walking tour of Bordeaux, admire ‘Place de la Bourse’ architecture, sculptured décor and water mirror that bring out a sense of unity that celebrates the tight union between the city and the Garonne River. Your accredited/licensed tour guide can be flexible on the itinerary but will definitely include the most famous landmarks Pick up at your Cruise Ship in Bordeaux Today, we will come and pick you up directly at your Cruise ship in Bordeaux. Meet your English-speaking tour guide who will go over the itinerary and program of this private walking tour of Bordeaux with you. Then begin to make your way towards the historical city center of Bordeaux. The Golden Triangle
Under the name of Golden Triangle lies a district of Bordeaux that englobes Cours Georges-Clemenceau, Cours de l'Intendance and the Allées de Tourny. These three very large streets form a Triangle of which each tip ends with a square: Gambetta, Comedie and Tourny. Historically, this is where all the most luxurious shops and financial institutions were located. In the 18th century, the wealthiest persons of Bordeaux started building Private Mansions, vaste and luxurious city houses, built for a single family and its servants. Place de la Comédie This impressive square is located between the Grand Theater of Bordeaux and the houses that face it to the west. The impressive portico composed of 12 Corinthian columns of the Grand Theater, designed by architect Victor Louis, dominate the whole composition of the square. The Theatre was inaugurated in 1780 and originally the ground sloped up so that carriages could drive inside the colonnade. In 1899 the building is classified as a Historical Monument. Today, the Theater is home to the National Opera of Bordeaux. The Grand Theatre The inauguration of the Grand Theatre of Bordeaux took place on April 7, 1780. It took Victor Louis more than 7 years to achieve the construction commissioned by the Governor of Guyenne, Louis Armand du Plessis, Duke of Richelieu. Built in a Neoclassical style, the Grand Theatre impresses with its main façade composed of a portico of 12 Corinthian columns above which stand 12 statues - nine muses and 3 goddesses of Classical Mythology. Place de la Bourse The Royal Square, today Place de la Bourse, is considered to be the most elegant façade located on the quays of Bordeaux. Initially, the architectural program completed the installation of a statue of Louis XV that was inaugurated on the 19th of August 1743. Construction of the square took more than 25 years and the hard work of two 'Intendants' (Civil Officers) and three architects. The architectural style is directly modeled on the works of Mansart for Versailles. Eventually, the statue of Louis XV was taken off its basement in 1792 and replaced by the fountain of the Three Graces. The Rohan Palace The Palace was built between 1171 and 1784 by architect Bonfin under the patronage of Ferdinand Maximilien Mériadec de Rohan. The Rohan Palace, after being the siege of the Archbishop of the revolutionary court and an imperial Palace, is today the Town Hall of Bordeaux since 1835. Inside, behind its Louis XVI style facade, is one of the most beautiful staircases of France a masterpiece of stereotomy. The Rohan Palace faces the Saint Andrew Cathedral and Pey Berland tower. If you are interested in other visits of Bordeaux, don't hesitate to browse our other walking tours that begin with Place des Quinconces and include a visit of the quartier des Chartrons district linked to the wine growing history of Bordeaux and that we mention on our wine tours.

Important historical sites include the Romanesque cloister and the Monolithic church carved into the limestone cliffs, also known as the underground monuments. Since this is a private tour and our guides have a privileged access to this monument, we can organise a private visit of this attraction on your private tour if you are interested in mixing culture & wine. Why not enter one of the many wine cellars to continue your tasting session? Finally, you will head back to Bordeaux where the wine tour concludes after having learned a lot about this famous wine producing area. We also provide a full day shore excursion from Saint Emilion. A Famous monk, a cave and centuries of wine making Perched on a hilltop overlooking the Dordogne Valley, the picturesque rooftops and medieval stone buildings of the beautiful village of Saint Emilion are a delight to the eye. A unique microclimate and Saint Emilion’s fertile soil made the area a haven of wine making. This tradition goes back to the later centuries of the Roman Empire. The first vineyards were planted here in the second century AD. In the fourth century, the Roman poet Ausonius already mentioned the delicious grapes of Saint Emilion. The legend of Emilian The first indications of human settlements in the area date back to the Roman Empire, but the story of Saint Emilion starts in the eighth century AD. At that time, a monk from Brittany, fleeing persecution in his hometown of Vannes sought refuge in one of the natural caves near the settlement of Ascum Bas. Although he lived the simple and secluded life of a hermit, Saint Emilion allegedly performed several miracles from his Aquitaine hideaway. Soon, his renown spread far beyond the town and region, bringing pilgrims and disciples from far afield to visit him. The small settlement grew fast as it became a religious center. After Saint Emilion died, his followers made sure he would be remembered by giving the town of Ascum Bas the new name Saint Emilion. Much later, monks developed more intensive and widespread vineyards. This is when the reputation for Saint Emilion wines started building towards what it is today. The rich Merlot-based blends of these fertile plains have given local wines a great appeal, and several wines produced in chateaux near Saint Emilion have been given the highest possible awards under the French appellation wine rating system.

Then, board your air conditioned vehicle and depart for the Marais Poitevin located in the Charente region. Reach the Marais Poitevin & embark on a relaxing boat trip The second largest wet marsh zone of France is on your program today. The Poitou Charente Marsh land, also known as the Green Venice (Venise Verte), was born by the forces of nature and is the combination of land and water associated to the hard work of man. The Dutch were the ones who drained most of the area in the 17th century, constructing rigoles that are tiny canals banked with poplars. The marsh is irrigated thanks to the Sèvre Niortaise, Vendée as well as smaller rivers. Arrive in Coulon, a small traditional village of the Pays de la Loire, where you will board a flat bottomed boat to visit this unique area of France. Listen to the tales & legends of the area distilled by your guide who uses a "pigouille" (punt) to maneuver the embarkation. As you slowly ride through an endless maze of green pools and streams, admire the wild irises, ruined churches, hidden marshes and golden orioles. A highlight of the tour will certainly be when your captain sets the water on fire! After the boat ride, enjoy some free time in the village of Coulon for a bit of shopping or why not visit the 'maison du marais poitevin' to get more information on the area? Food & Wine Tasting in the Heart of Coulon Nestled in the picturesque village of Coulon, your culinary journey begins with an authentic food and wine tasting experience that brings the flavors of the region to life. Known as the "capital" of the Poitevin Marsh, Coulon offers not just stunning views but also an opportunity to savor its gastronomic treasures. Relax in a charming local venue, where you'll be welcomed with an array of regional specialties. Sample artisanal cheeses, rustic pâtés, freshly baked bread, and other delicacies, all paired with expertly chosen local wines that capture the essence of the area. Your host will share stories about the culinary traditions of the region, offering insights into the production of the fine wines and foods you’re enjoying. This activity is perfect for food lovers and wine enthusiasts seeking a deeper connection to the local culture. The combination of exquisite tastes and the idyllic setting makes this a highlight of your visit to Coulon and an experience you'll remember long after your trip.

Taste delicious wines Medoc wines produce wonderfully perfumed yet very intense french wines. Margaux wines have a distinctive fragrant taste, attributed to the high gravel content of the soil in these vineyards. The soil’s excellent drainage means the plants need to root down further to find moisture, making them particularly strong, and bringing up the flavors of the deeper earth. The Haut Medoc appellation is vast, with almost 400 different wine producers operating there, the different wineries produce wine that have a wide variety of textures and flavors. If time permits, your guide will try and organise a stop at Chateau Margaux for photo opportunities. Saint Julien wines are known to be tannic, powerful and are usually coined as being quite masculine types of wines while the wines produced in Pauillac are generally rich, full bodied and stern. Lunch (at own expense) During the course of the day, you will stop in a local restaurant where you can taste some of the local delicacies. Lunch will be at own expense but we will be happy to make pre-booking arrangements for you and your group. After the second visit & wine tasting of the day, we will return to Pauillac and drop you off at your ship.

Discover Saint Malo with a certified guide Participate in a commented 2 hour guided tour of Saint Malo with your own personal English speaking certified guide. This Saint Malo Shore Excursion is for small groups only. The group size is limited to a maximum of 10 persons. Discover the charming port town of Saint Malo with its old town, 12th century remparts, cobbled streets and granite buildings. The major attractions include Saint Malo Castle, the National Fort, as well as the Aquarium that houses more than 500 species. Saint Malo is a port town located in Brittany, France, on the coast of the English Channel and is coined the Pearl of the Emerald Coast. The town curves out to sea on a natural harbour, on the Rance Estuary, and the Old Town is completely surrounded by massive remparts. The name of the town originates from the name of a Welsh monk Maclovius or Maclou in French. The Golden Age of Saint Malo The most significant period of history for the town is the 16th & 17th centuries. Because of its strategic position as the last main Channel port for the merchant ships heading south, the port rapidly became home to Privateers (Corsaires or Pirates) that would pillage and plunder English and Dutch ships. This made the town quite rich and it allowed ship owners to build large mansions called malouinières that are part of the architectural highlights of the town. One of the best known French Privateers was René Dugyay-Trouin born in Saint Malo in 1673. Captain at 18, he took command of a 40-gunner at the tender age of 21. He captured more than 300 merchant ships and 16 warships. Louis XV made him lieutenant-general of the naval armies. The other most well known figure of Privateering is Robert Surcouf. who waged war against English commerce. His most dastardly feat was the capture of the Kent, a powerful 1200 ton ship of the East India Company. This act of piracy earned him the title of King of the Corsairs, making him one of the richest and most powerful men in Saint-Malo. Both men have their statues in Saint Malo. Jacques Cartier, a famous explorer Yet the most well known person born in Saint Malo is without a doubt Jacques Cartier. Born in Saint Malo in 1491 he was the first European to describe and map the Gulf of Saint Laurent River which he named the Country of Canadas. Cartier's professional abilities can be easily ascertained. Considering that Cartier made three voyages of exploration in dangerous and hitherto unknown waters without losing a ship, and that he entered and departed some 50 undiscovered harbours without serious mishap, he may be considered one of the most conscientious explorers of the period. Private Guided walking tour of Saint Malo Today, your English speaking guide will come and pick you up at your Cruise Port in Saint Malo. Meet your tour guide who will go over the itinerary and program of this private tour with you. Then, leave the port and begin to make your way to Saint Malo's historic city center. The most emblematic 'Privateer' Town of France is ready for a visit. Surrounded by ramparts made of granite, enter the walled city through the gate of Saint Vincent. Built in the beginning of the 12th century, they remained intact during the bombings of the second world war. Then, from one neighborhood to another, admire the imposing houses of the rich shipowners of beyond. As your tour continues, pass the medieval castle that today houses the History Museum of the town. Next to the castle, the Quic-en-Groigne tower was built under the reign of Anne de Bretagne. Other interesting sites include the old historic city center of St Malo as well as the national Fort that protected the town and was built under the orders of Military engineer Vauban in 1689. This half day trip will end with some free time for personal discovery in the town.

A full day shore excursion to one of France's most Iconic Monuments. Enjoy a small group private shore excursion from Saint Malo Cruise Port to Mont Saint Michel. Follow your guide and visit the village and Mt Saint Michel Abbey.
Come with us on a Normandy private Shore Excursion from Saint Malo and take a trip to one of France’s most iconic monuments! The Mont Saint Michel is an island off the coast of Normandy, in the English Channel, and is one of the best Normandy private tours you can choose. It is located about 1 kilometer from the shore and sits in a bay that sees some of the biggest tides in Europe. A few years ago, it was linked to the mainland by a bridge that gets flooded during high tides a few times a year. The first church was built on the mount in 709 at the request of Archangel Michael. A couple hundred years later, a small group of Benedictines settled there permanently and the church was enlarged. The first monastery was carved in the rock in the 11th century and gradually got bigger and bigger over the following centuries. In medieval times, it quickly became an important destination for pilgrims, just like Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Completion of the abbey took hundreds of years The construction of the abbey as we know it nowadays was finished in the 13th and 14th centuries, and the grand chancel was replaced in the 15th century. Those hundreds of years of architectural prowess have left us with a magnificent monument, now referred to as the “Wonder of the Western World”. It is also a UNESCO world heritage site. During your Mont Saint Michel day trip, you will start by traveling from Saint Malo Cruise Port to the Mont Saint Michel, which you will access via a shuttle and the bridge in accordance with local requirements. While on the road, make sure to take it all in and observe the beauty of the Normandy coastline. Your group will be transported in a private vehicle adapted to the number of people present. Once we reach Mont Saint Michel, you will have sufficient time to tour on your own. You can reach the abbey itself, at the very top of the mount, as you walk along the narrow streets. Please note that this is a challenging climb as it is done on cobble street stones. If you do decide to visit the abbey, then follow your tour guide and the history of its construction will be explained in detail and while you are there, make sure to snap some pictures of the amazing views on the surrounding bay! Entrance fees to the Abbey can be purchased during the booking process. The Mont Saint Michel is also a lively small town, boasting dozens of shops, restaurants and museums Another option is to explore the village at your own pace and bring back some souvenirs for friends and family. Your guide will suggest some great restaurants for lunch. Of course, if you still have some questions about the history or the architecture of the Mont Saint Michel, your private guide will remain available for you. This Mont Saint Michel private tour can take in small groups of 2 to 7 persons maximum. The tour takes place in a fully equipped A/C minivan. An English-speaking driver/guide will be with you all day and ready to answer any questions you may have. After the tour, it will be time to make our way back to St Malo.

Bathed in late-afternoon sunshine and highlighted by dark clouds, La Cité, as the old walled city is known, is truly breathtaking. The visit of the Basilica with its outstanding stained-glass windows is a must. Pick up at your Cruise Ship in Port Vendres From Port Vendres Cruise Port depart for a full day private tour to the fortified city of Carcassonne one of the most famous Unesco World Heritage Sites of the region. On this full day trip to Carcassonne, we will first come and pick you up at your Ship located in Port Vendres. Meet your English speaking driver who will go over the itinerary and program of the day with you. Then you will board your air-conditioned vehicle and it will be time to drive off to this day’s destination. The drive from Port Vendres to the medieval town & Cité of Carcassonne is just under 2 hours. As you drive, admire the Languedoc region landscape with its rolling hills, fields of bright yellow sunflowers and of course the Canal du Midi that you will follow until Carcassonne. This full day tour also enables you to take in some panoramic views of the area especially as you pass the Alaric mountain range. Visit the Walled Town of Carcassonne – La Cité A bit of History The oldest traces of mankind - 6th century B.P - were found on the promontory where the now medieval Cité lies. Around 300 B.P, the Volques Tectosages brought the Iberians of Languedoc to submission. In 122 B.P, the Romans conquered the Provence and the Languedoc regions of France. They fortified the oppidum which took the name of Carcaso and occupied our region until the middle of the 5th century. The Visigoths then became the masters of Spain and the Languedoc. The Cité remained in their hands from 460 to 725 A.D. In the spring of 725, the Saracens took the Cité. They were driven away in 759 by Pépin le Bref, king of the Franks. After the death of Charlemagne, the dismembering of the Empire gave birth to the feudal system. It was under the dynasty of the Trencavels, from 1082 to 1209, that the town began to gain tremendous influence. During this prosperous period, Catharism grew rapidly. Raymond Roger Trencavel, vicomte of Carcassonne (1194-1209) both tolerated and protected the heretics on his own lands. He suffered the first impact of the crusade preached by Pope Innocent III and on August 15th, 1209, after a two-week siege, it was all over. The Cité and the lands of Trencavel were first handed to the military commander of the crusade, Simon de Montfort, then to the King of France in 1224. As the Cité made its entry into the Royal Estate, its destiny took a new turn. Under the successive reigns of Louis IX, Philippe Le Hardi and Philippe Le Bel, it grew its modern-day shape. A new borough was born on the left bank in 1262: La Bastide Saint-Louis. Set on fire by the Black Prince in 1355, it was immediately rebuilt. While this new town was bustling with activity, the Cité consolidated its role as a royal fortress. But due to the use of new war techniques (gunpowder, cannon) and above all to the recession of the Franco-Spanish border in 1659 after the Peace of the Pyrénées, it was gradually abandoned. In the 18th century, the Cité was little more than a slum, a poverty-stricken, outlying area in a town made wealthy by the wine trade and the cloth manufacturing industry. Only through the joint efforts of Jean-Pierre Cros-Mayrevieille, a historian and a citizen of Carcassonne, of Mérimée and the famous architect Viollet-le-Duc was it saved from demolition. Thousands of people today are able to see and admire the most accomplished fortified town in Europe. Visit of Carcassonne with your licensed tour guide Reach the cité de Carcassonne that looks like some fairy-tale medieval city. Bathed in late-afternoon sunshine and highlighted by dark clouds, La Cité, as the old walled city is known, is truly breathtaking. The fortress is the largest remaining fortified city in Europe. Follow your guide as you listen to the local stories and legends and be amazed by its old stones and its history. Follow the ramparts with your guide, to get a feel of the medieval beauty of the biggest fortified city then stroll through the narrow streets lined with shops. Reach the Cathedral of Carcassonne. The visit of the Saint Nazaire Basilica with its outstanding stained-glass windows that date back to the middle ages is a must. Free time for lunch After your guided walking tour of Carcassonne, enjoy some free time for personal discovery and lunch (at own expense). There is a large choice of restaurants within the Cité so don't hesitate to ask your guide for recommendations. If you are interested in local food, why not try the most popular dish of the region: Cassoulet. This rich, slow-cooked stew contains meat, pork skin and white beans. Bon apétit! Languedoc Wines tasting session Upon return to your Cruise Ship, we will make a stop along the way in a carefully selected winery of the region. Here taste the bold red wines and fruity white wines of the region. Depending on the winery visited, you might also taste some Rosé wine as the Languedoc is by far the largest Rosé wine producing region of France. After your wine tasting session, we will take you back to Port Vendres and drop you off at your Cruise Ship.

Embark on a vibrant Private Shore Excursion from Port Vendres Cruise Port to the beautiful village of Collioure. Pick up at your Cruise Ship in Port Vendres Port of Call From Port Vendres Cruise Port depart for a half day tour to the small fishing port of Collioure. On this half day trip, we will first come and pick you up at your Ship located in Port Vendres. Meet your English speaking driver who will go over the itinerary and program of the day with you. Then you will board your air conditioned vehicle and it will be time to drive off to this day's destination. Visit the Charming village of Collioure The drive from Port Vendres to Collioure is just over 10 minutes but the drive is stunning through the Languedoc landscape and along the Côte Vermeille. This area is without a doubt one of the most preserved landscapes of the south of France. Upon arrival in Collioure, follow your guide as you walk the narrow streets of this small fishing village. A fortified church so close to the sea that it seems to float, an old royal castle, colorful boats that seem ready to set out to catch the prized anchovies (a local specialty), this is enchanting Collioure. No wonder artists such as Picasso, Braque, Dufy, Chagall, Matisse and Derain came here as the village, birthplace of the Fauvism painting movement, boasts more than 300 days of sunshine per year. Languedoc wine tour After the visit of the village and some free time, participate in a wine tasting session of local wines. The wines produced in Collioure include reds, rosés and a few white wines. The main grape varieties that are used here include Shiraz, Mourvèdre, Grenache and Carignan which are similar to the grapes used in Languedoc wines. Wine making in the area began with the Greeks around the 6th century BP. For a long time under Spanish rule, the wines produced here have often been described as being more like Spanish wines than French. The red wines usually have softer tannins and are full bodied with spicy aromas. The rosés produced here have a nice raspberry color to them and can be very aromatic. After the wine tasting session, it will be time to head back to your ship. Depending on the day of your tour it might be possible that the winery tour takes place in Banyuls sur Mer instead of Collioure. Upon arrival in Port Vendres, we will drop you off at your ship and that will be the end of our services.

Embark on a vibrant Shore Excursion from Marseille Cruise Terminal to visit the most beautiful villages of the Luberon. Let our Expert local guides introduce you to one of the most stunning regions of Provence. Pick up at your Cruise Ship in Marseille Today we will come and pick you up at your Cruise Ship in Marseille Port of Call. Meet your English speaking driver/guide who will go over the itinerary and program of this private shore excursion. Then, board your air conditioned vehicle and begin to make your way to the Luberon villages of Provence. There are a number of villages that can be visited on this full day trip from Marseille. Below is our selection of Villages du Luberon that are worth a stop. It will be your driver/guide on the day of your tour that will go over this selection with you. Depending on your wishes, your Expert guide will adapt the itinerary to your wishes. You will also have some free time in most villages so that you may explore on your own and lunch will be taken at your own expense in one of the villages on the way. Our selection of Luberon Villages: Gordes Gordes is without a doubt the most famous of all Luberon villages. The downside to this is the high number of visitors that come to visit the village so we advise that if you do choose to visit this village, you should go there immediately so as to arrive early. Classified as one of the most beautiful villages of France and facing the Luberon mountain range, the village is composed of small paved streets, known as calades, where it feels so nice to get lost in. To mostly appreciate this unique village, magic operates in spring and autumn as summer is very crowded by the number of visitors. Lourmarin The village of Lourmarin is quite unique. As you stroll the winding streets, the architecture in the village reveals its many riches: from the Renaissance to the Baroque period, from Classicism to the 19th century, the houses in Lourmarin highlight the incomparable know-how of those builders often little known to the general public. Located in a gorgeous setting that is surrounded by olive and almond trees, the village has attracted numerous artists and writers such Henri Bosco and Albert Camus. Again, enjoy some time in the village where options include the visit of its ancient castle. The village was the source of inspiration for Peter Mayle’s “A year in Provence”. Roussillon The village of Roussillon is a typical hilltop village located just above a rock formation called the “Provencal Colorado“. Here, you will have some time for personal discovery that will allow you to stroll down the village or walk along the “ochre cliffs path", a 30 minute walk. Bonnieux The architecture of Bonnieux, papal town for about 500 years, testifies to the prestige of its inhabitants over the centuries: ecclesiastical dignitaries, counts, lords... up until the modern times of the 19th century. The village has kept all its authenticity, its steep sloping streets, its fountains and washhouses, its old church - or upper church, a mix of Romanesque and Gothic As Provence Specialists, please note that we also conduct private tours, shore excursions, wine tasting tours departing from Toulon. Other important destinations to discover provence include the town of Aix en Provence, the Pont du Gard, the village of Les Baux de Provence, Chateauneuf du Pape for the wines, Van Gogh tours, the lavender fields, l'Isle sur la Sorgue River and village and so much more. For more information please contact our reservations team. Provence Wine Tasting On this Shore excursion from Marseille Port of Call, it is also possible to include a wine tasting session of Provence Wines. During the booking process, it will be possible for you to choose the number of villages in the Luberon that you would like to include. Arrive in Bandol and taste more wines After your exploration of Cassis, your shore trip will continue heading to Bandol. It is a popular coastal town and wine growing region in the western part of the Cote d'Azur. Your visit to Bandol will start by a local wine tasting. The Bandol vineyard lies in a natural amphitheatre where the vines are planted on terraces over approximately 1,600 hectares. Sheltered by the massif of Sainte Baume to the North culminating at 1,147 metres, the Bandol vineyard descends in terraces towards the sea in a magnificent amphitheatre of wooded hills. Bold red wines The expression of the terroir comes together in the range of wines produced in the area: red wines, white wines and rosé wines. Bandol is a resolutely red wine, mainly produced from the Mourvèdre variety, known as the king of the appellation. Mourvèdre is the chief grape variety in the blend (50% to 95%). It is harmoniously combined with Grenache and Cinsault, the former bringing generosity to the wine, the latter giving it refinement. Elegant white wines of Bandol To penetrate the secret of Bandol, one must also taste its white wines. The wine-growers take delight in surprising wine lovers with this type of wine, produced in very low quantities. Clairette, Ugni Blanc and Bourboulenc are the base of the varietal mix. Gourmand rosé wines Bandol rosés are enchanting. Their roundness and generosity make them different from other rosé wines. Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault combine to give, by direct pressing, a well-structured, refined, pale-coloured wine with delicate salmon hues. Visit the village of Bandol Then, enjoy some free time for a walk around the harbour with some lovely pastel painted houses. The centre of the traditional village of Bandol is around a square called the Place de l'Europe immediately behind the promenade. This square is actually a series of three squares separated by raised terraces where a large fountain, shady plane trees and lively cafes combine with the view across the harbour to make a very attractive traditional Provencal square. At the top of the square is one of the most important historic monuments in Bandol, the Church Saint-Francois de Sales. The streets around the square are also interesting to explore with a surprise around every corner for example an ancient fountain, a tiny ancient house and flower boxes or a grand Belle Epoque villa. This private guided tour will give you an opportunity to taste the local wines and visit 2 domains. You will also have some free time in both villages of Cassis & Bandol. Your private guide will point out the main attractions that can be found in the villages. After your tour, we will drive back to your cruise ship.

The Cru Classé Wines of Provence In the heart of the Provence wine region, a few wineries obtained the status of Cru Classé (Classified Growth) in 1977 with 4 criterias to be met: direct selling of the wines, wine to be bottled at the property, to market the wines only 18 months after the vinification and the use of a name present before 1935. Originally, 23 out of 300 properties comprised the Cru Classé and today only 18 wineries are still present in this Classification the 5 others having disappeared with time. No modification of the Classification is programmed which means that no winery can be added for the moment. Tasting at a Cru Classé Winery Our first stop will be in a Cru Classé winery of Côtes de Provence. Located at an altitude of 190 meters (625 feet) at the foothill of Notre Dame des Anges, the vineyard benefits from both the Mistral wind and the shade of the mountain range. The soil here is composed of a mix of clay and schist (shale) with certain areas made up of sand and others made up of rock. Nine grape varieties are used to blend the wines including Syrah (Shiraz), Grenache, Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon to name the most known. The range of wines include reds, whites and rosés and you will have the opportunity to taste these local wines during a commented tasting session. Visit & Wine tasting in a second Cru Classé Winery After your first stop, time to move along to the next winery that is on your program for this day trip in the Provence wine region. This winery covers 300 hectares (740 acres) among which a large amount are part of the Cru Classé vineyards. The soil of the property is composed of clay and limestone and the vineyard is exposed to the sea breeze and enjoys ideal conditions for growing top quality wines. The wines produced on the estate include 85% of Rosé, 10% of Red Wine and 5% of White. All the wines are made with the grapes harvested from the estate. Enjoy the stunning setting as you discover the estate and family’s history while visiting the cellars and gardens. Then enjoy a tasting during which you will learn about the various steps to tasting a wine. Lunch in a local restaurant The Provence region of France is known for its culinary delights. After your second winery visit, it will be time to enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. You can either plan this directly with your guide and ask for recommendations in the morning of your tour, or it is possible for us to arrange a pre-booked lunch reservation in a carefully selected restaurant of the region. End the day in style with a final Provence Wine Tasting Experience Arrive at your last winery visit of the day that is also a Cru Classé Provence wine estate. Located just a few kilometers from Saint Tropez, the vineyard is ideally situated to the west of the plain that links the foothills of the Maure Mountain Range to the Mediterranean Sea. The winery produces remarkable Rosé wines with some of the highest vine stocks of the Côte de Provence appellation that are located at an altitude of around 450 meters (1500 feet). Here, follow a guided tour of the property and learn how the wine is made. Then, participate in a commented wine tasting session of 4 Cru Classé Wines paired with Cheese & cold meats. If you think that 3 visits & tastings is too much on this full day tour, then is is possible to replace the last visit with the visit of Port Grimaud, a 50 year-old Marina that was designed by a visionary architect from the Alsace region who dreamt up this modern day, lakeside city. Here, it is possible to follow a walking tour or a small boat tour. After the visit, it will be time for us to make our way back to your Cruise Ship in Saint Tropez. Upon arrival this will be the end of your St Tropez Shore Excursion and the end of our services.

Embark on a vibrant Shore Excursion from Bordeaux Port of Call to beautiful Sea side resort of Arcachon
Arcachon is a popular bathing location on the Atlantic coast 55 kilometers (34 miles) Southwest of Bordeaux and makes for a perfect day trip as a private custom tour. It has fine sandy beaches and a mild climate said to be favorable for invalids suffering from pulmonary complaints. The town of Arcachon is only 150 years old. Not long before 2 May 1857, when Emperor Napoleon III signed its official “birth certificate”, it was just a forest of pine trees, oaks and strawberry trees (arbutus), with no road links, and home – mostly when the weather was expected to be warm, and more in wood huts than in real houses – to fewer than 400 people, mostly fishermen and peasants. In earlier years, when some hygienists began to recommend sea bathing, three sea establishments were laid out by some entrepreneurs especially for the Bordeaux bourgeoisie. At its southern entrance from the Atlantic Ocean, Arcachon Bay is crowned by the largest sand dune in Europe, the Dune de Pyla (or Dune du Pilat), nearly 3 kilometres long, 500 metres wide, reaching 107 metres in height, and moving inland at rate of 5 metres a year. Begin your private small group day trip from Bordeaux to Arcachon Today leave the bustle of Bordeaux on this astonishing day tour and head towards this land locked sea known as “The Arcachon bay” where fresh oysters and the Dune of Pilat will be on your program. In the morning, we will come and pick you up directly at your Cruise ship in Bordeaux. Meet your English-speaking driver/ tour guide who will go over the itinerary and program of the day. Travel in a spacious, premium minivan Your private Bordeaux Shore Excursion to Arcachon will take place in one of our very spacious Mercedes Minivans. This vehicle can take up to 8 persons. All our vehicles are equipped with an on board P/A system that allows you to hear the commentary of your driver/guide no matter where you are seated. Also, there is free Wi-Fi access on all tour vehicles. Bottled water is also available in all our vehicles. Upon arrival, discover the oyster sheds that are laid in rows one next to each other and that belong to the local oyster farmers that make this destination so well known to all French oyster aficionados. Here we will organize an oyster tasting session. To taste fresh Arguin Banc oysters surrounded by the bay on one side and the pine forest on the other is quite an experience. Typically, the oysters are accompanied with fresh baguette, lightly salted butter and a glass of white wine. For those who do not appreciate oysters or seafood there is always an opportunity to taste other local dishes including cold meats or grilled sausages. Wine tasting is always available in any case as you are close to one of the most famous wine regions of the world. For lunch, your guide will certainly suggest one of the many high-quality sea food restaurants located along the shore. Of course, it will be time to pair your food with local Bordeaux wines. In the afternoon a number of options are possible: Option 1 - Head to Pilat and climb Europe's largest sand dune. After a short drive from Arcachon town, reach the highest sand dune of Europe located in the small town of Pilat sur Mer. During the summer season, a staircase is put in place so that it is easier to climb the Dune without damaging the area. This means you will have to make some effort to reach the top as there are 170 stairs to climb. Once at the top, discover the natural beauty of the landscape and admire one of the most stunning views of the Bay, the sand beaches and the pine forest in the back. Option 2 - A traditional Private Pinasse Boat Tour on the Bay Book a unique boat ride on board a local “Pinasse”, the traditional boats of the Bay of Arcachon. All built out of wood, mention of the boats date back to the 1500’s at a time when they were used only for fishing. This pleasant ride will have you see the numerous oyster farms and admire ‘Birds Island’ with its “Tchanqués” huts built on wooden piles. You can also include some oyster tasting, picnic & wine to enhance your experience. Option 3 - Enjoy some free time in Arcachon and shop for local arts & crafts that make for great souvenirs Any of these options can be chosen during the booking process. Tour returns to your Cruise Ship at the end of our services.
