Small Group Louvre Museum Greatest Masterpieces Guided Tour

Meet our expert guide for a Skip-the-Line guided tour and visit one of the world’s most popular museums in a small group.

Meet our expert guide for a Skip-the-Line guided tour and visit one of the world’s most popular museums in a small group. As one of the largest museums in the world, it has over 35,000 objects on display from prehistory to the 19th century, spread across more than 650,000 square feet of gallery space.

On 10th August 1793, the Louvre Museum opened its doors to the public for the first time. From a medieval fortress, Renaissance palace and luxurious home to Kings and Emperors,  the Louvre has been a symbol of the wealth, power and decadence of the French monarchy for over 600 years.

Your guide will lead you through the galleries of this extraordinary French institution and explain the changing face of the Louvre through its architecture and design . You will marvel at the iconic glass pyramid and admire masterpieces from artists such as David, Géricault, Delacroix and Leonardo da Vinci himself. You will see the most famous artworks: the Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace and the Mona Lisa, painted by da Vinci at the beginning of the 16th century.

You will be transported back to the Golden Age of France with a trip to the Palace of Versailles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and emblem of French royalty and extravagance. You will be guaranteed fast-track entry, allowing you to jump the queue and travel in comfort on one of our fully air-conditioned coaches. You will marvel at the breathtaking royal chateau, transformed by the "Sun King Louis XIV" in the 1660s from a hunting lodge. Playground of the French monarchs, Versailles was the center of royal and political power until the French Revolution in 1789 which saw Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette forced to return to the capital.

You will discover by yourself the State apartments of the King and Queen, the Royal Chapel and Hall of Mirrors, the epitome of French opulence: three hundred and fifty-seven mirrors line the gold-adorned hall and crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling.

You will also be given time to have a glimpse of the manicured gardens “à la française”, which mirror the splendor of the interior. Designed by the French landscaper André Le Nôtre in 1661 for King Louis XIV, the 2,000-acre park is an architectural expanse of perspectives, parterres, fountains, and groves that since its inception has defined what a French garden should be.

We will take you back to the Golden Age of France to the former residence of the ‘Sun King’ Louis XIV; a sumptuous royal palace which was home to three of France’s most illustrious Kings for over 100 years.

The palace and gardens of Versailles count among the most prestigious monuments of the world’s artistic heritage, and are certainly the finest and most complete achievement of 17th century French art. During this full-day tour you will see the best that Versailles has to offer without having to wait in line.

We will take you back to the Golden Age of France to the former residence of the ‘Sun King’ Louis XIV; a sumptuous royal palace which was home to three of France’s most illustrious Kings for over 100 years. The tour of the palace includes the State Apartments of the King and Queen, Royal Chapel and Hall of Mirrors, a richly decorated gallery which boasts 357 mirrors, french bay windows and crystal chandeliers.

After having been dazzled by the splendours of the chateau you will discover the famous gardens à la française ; a 2,000 acre park designed by André le Notre with its magnificent groves, statues, and fountains. Beyond the formal gardens arranged in the Petit parc (185 acres), the extensive Grand Parc provides opportunities for pleasant strolls or long walks.

Savour your 3 course lunch in the “La Flotille” restaurant located at the foot of the Grand Canal, a majestic setting which allows you to appreciate the beauty of the estate.

After lunch your guide will take you to the Petit Trianon, a small chateau in the grounds of Versailles used by Marie Antoinette for festivities and to escape the overwhelming court etiquette. You will also discover the Queen’s Hamlet, a stylised Norman village and farm built for Marie Antoinette where she retreated with her closest friends to enjoy an intimately rustic life. Completed just a few years before the Revolution, the Hamlet remains a testiment to the Queen’s desire for a simpler life over the cold marble vaults of the main palace.

Giverny and Monet’s Garden Half-day trip from Paris in a Small-Group

This day trip will lead you from Paris to the edge of Normandy, where you will first visit the idyllic home of Claude Monet. You will travel in style aboard a luxury minibus with one of our expert guides.

This day trip will lead you from Paris to the edge of Normandy, where you will first visit the idyllic home of Claude Monet.

You will travel in style aboard a luxury minibus with one of our expert guides, so you can sit back, relax and make the most of your day. The leader of the Impressionist School lived here from 1883 to 1926, the colourful décor and pink brick facade are an intimate reminder of its former life. The precious collection of Japanese engravings is displayed in several rooms, hung in the marmer chosen by the master of Giverny himself. Claude Monet’s property at Giverny, left by his son to the Académie des Beaux-arts in 1966, has, after completion of large scale restoration work, become the Claude Monet Foundation, inaugurated in 1980. The huge Nymphéas studio, a stone’s throw from the house, has also been restored and contains the Foundation’s Shop.

The gardens have been replanted as they once were and offer visitors the “painting from nature” which Claude Monet’s contemporaries considered to be one of his masterpieces. The rectangular Clos Normand, with archways of climbing plants entwined around brilliantly coloured shrubs, lies before the house and studios, offering from Spring to Autumn the palette of varying colours to the painter-gardner who was “ecstatic about flowers”. Lastly, the Water Garden, formed by a tributary of the Epte, lies further away, shaded by weeping willows. With its famous Japanese Bridge, its wistarias, azaleas and its pond, it has once more become that casket of sky and water which inspired the pictorial universe of the water lilies.

Highlights:

  • Small-group tour limited to 18 people provides an intimate experience
  • Wander around the Impressionist painter’s former home
  • Visit the gardens to see beautiful sights where some of Monet’s inspiration came from

The price includes:

  • Transport by air-conditioned Coach or Minibus

Explore the house and stunning gardens of Claude Monet, enjoy lunch at the 'Moulin de Fourges' restaurant, then leave Giverny behind, before gaining fast access at Versailles, for a guided tour of the famous Palace.

Discover the Palace of Versailles, residence of the ‘Sun King’ and the home of Claude Monet, ‘Prince of the Impressionists’ in just one day.

Make your own way to the meeting point, close to the Eiffel Tower, to meet your guide and small group of up to 16 people in time for an 8.30am departure time. After a 1-hour journey to Giverny, Traveling aboard an air-conditioned minibus, you will first visit the idyllic home of Claude Monet on the edge of Normandy.

You will enjoy a fabulous 3 course lunch at the “Moulin de Fourges” restaurant, a 200-year-old mill. The architecture of this listed site, dating back to the 18th century, draws its inspiration from the hamlet of Marie-Antoinette at Versailles. It offers a unique setting with its rural grounds and spacious terrace on the banks of the Epte.

In the afternoon, we will take you back to the Golden Age of France with a visit to the Palace of Versailles. The chateau and gardens count among the most prestigious monuments of the world’s artistic heritage, and are certainly the finest and most complete achievement of 17th century French art. Former residence of the ‘Sun King’ Louis XIV, this sumptuous royal palace was home to three of France’s most illustrious Kings for over 100 years. The audio-guided tour of the palace includes the State Apartments of the King and Queen, Royal Chapel and Hall of Mirrors, a richly decorated gallery which boasts 357 mirrors, french bay windows and crystal chandeliers.

At the end of your visit there is free time to discover the famous gardens à la française ; a 2,000 acre park designed by André le Notre with its magnificent groves, statues, and fountains.

Loire Valley Castles Day Trip from Paris to Amboise, Chenonceau and Chambord

Now is your chance to visit the “Garden of France”. With over 100 chateaux to choose from, the Loire Valley is a rich plethora of Renaissance and Enlightenment architectural Masterpiece.

Now is your chance to visit the “Garden of France”. With over 100 chateaux to choose from, the Loire Valley is a rich plethora of Renaissance and Enlightenment architectural Masterpieces, therefore we have designed this tour to give you a unique view of the best castles that this magical region has to offer: the majestic Chambord; the ethereally beautiful Chenonceau and the powerfully forged Amboise.

In the comfort of one of our minibuses your driver-guide will take you to the Loire, regaling you with anecdotes of regional history, architectural features you will see on your castle visits and about the people who had lived in them. Once you arrive at the Châteaux you will be given free time to explore all three at your own pace.

Chambord is the most majestic of the Châteaux you will see, boasting massive medieval towers perfectly blended with Renaissance elegance. Set in 13,000 acres of parkland this former royal residence represents the pinnacle of France’s 16th century architectural revolution, and the double helix spiral staircase at the heart of the Château, attributed to Leonardo Di Vinci is simply mind-blowing.

Amboise, with its spectacular view over the Loire, is famous for being the last resting place of one of history’s most famous men: Leonardo Da Vinci and with its massive gothic defensive features it evokes that bygone era of knights on horseback.

Then you will be given some free time in the Village at the foot of the Castle to wander and enjoy your Lunch break after a wine tasting.

Chenonceau, above all stands out as the most beautiful of the Châteaux of the Loire as it extends with infinite grace over the waters of the river Cher. With its ornately carved decoration and history of romance and rivalry, this Château lives up to its passionate reputation and has been seducing visitors for hundreds of years.

In the winter why not take advantage of the open wood fires which instantly transport you back to the days when these three castles where inhabited by some of France’s most famous Renaissance Kings and Queens; wander through the myriad of tapestry-covered rooms, down corridors lined with royal portraits and up the spiraling staircases which make this architectural period so exciting. Once summer arrives these chateaux really come alive as their beautifully manicured gardens come into bloom which you can stroll around at your leisure. Chenonceau is especially famous for its Renaissance sculptured gardens so prized by Catherine de Medici.

Your full-day tour ends with return transport to the Original Departure Point in Paris.
